Summer Reading

As stated in my summer to do list I want to read at least one book start to finish and a very good one at that! I’ve always been really into reading and enjoyed getting lost in a book with my toes in the sand or lounging by the pool. Most of the time I definitely lean towards reading a totally sappy, make me cry (which isn’t hard), and cheer for the love of their lives to realize how much they love them! Yes I am that girl! Recently though I’ve broaden my horizons a little to include friendship novels and books that will cause me to sit back and learn from amazing, strong, and powerful woman. Creating this blog is a dream come true for me (I could truly go on for hours about how much I love it) and reading about woman who have taken their dream and gone beyond will only inspire me to do more! So I’ve complied a small list of my current must reads for this summer. What’s on your summer reading list?

I’m kinda dying to read this book right now as I feel like it is the perfect twenty- something read! – Isabella, Mary, and Lauren feel like everyone they know is getting married. On Sunday after Sunday, at bridal shower after bridal shower, they coo over toasters, collect ribbons and wrapping paper, eat minuscule sandwiches and cakes. They wear pastel dresses and drink champagne by the case, but amid the celebration these women have their own lives to contend with.

With a wry sense of humor, Jennifer Close brings us through those thrilling, bewildering years of early adulthood as she pulls us inside the circle of these friends, perfectly capturing the wild frustrations and soaring joys of modern life.

2. The Wedding

One of my all time favorite books! It’s the sequel to The Notebook and oh my, oh my it’s incredible.  The Wedding tells the story of Wilson Lewis, the son in law of Noah and Allie and his marriage with their daughter,  Jane. Wilson has to face the facts that the romance has disappeared in his marriage and that he is losing the love of his life. All of which is entirely his fault for neglecting both Jane and his children. While her love his faded his has only grown and he goes to great lengths to show and prove to Jane she is his everything.

The Wedding is  passionate, enthralling, and plain ole romantic in the best kind of way. I could literally read it over and over and over again. So what I’m saying is it’s a must read and ladies you need to go ahead and purchase this for your next beach trip!

3. #GIRLBOSS

This is another book I cannot wait to get my hands on, read, study, and read again. This girl is on top of the world and it’s all due to her incredible hard work and drive. Someone I want to learn from! – #GIRLBOSS includes Sophia’s story, yet is infinitely bigger than Sophia. It’s deeply personal yet universal. Filled with brazen wake-up calls (“You are not a special snowflake”), cunning and frank observations (“Failure is your invention”), and behind-the-scenes stories from Nasty Gal’s meteoric rise, #GIRLBOSS covers a lot of ground. It proves that being successful isn’t about how popular you were in high school or where you went to college (if you went to college). Rather, success is about trusting your instincts and following your gut, knowing which rules to follow and which to break.

As Sophia writes, “I have three pieces of advice I want you to remember: Don’t ever grow up. Don’t become a bore. Don’t let The Man get to you. OK? Cool.  Then let’s do this.”

4. MWF Seeking BFF

Finding the perfect best friend is a challenge. We all know that. The one that giggles at absolutely nothing with you for hours on hours, watches rom-coms for eight hours straight and supplies endless amounts of ice cream when you just got your heartbroken, knows what your thinking about the girl’s ridiculous skirt across the bar without you even having to say a word, and will meet you anywhere anytime if you need her. This book talks about finding that best friend in a whole new city where the main character just moved to be with her boyfriend. Even though she’s thrilled to be with her boyfriend she soon realizes she has BFF and is in desparate need of one!
