#LRSundays

You may have missed this last week as it was my first time posting on Sunday but I’ve decided to start a new series called LR Sundays where I’ll feature a specific bible verse, break down what it means to me, and ask y’all to share what it means to you.

“For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask him.” – Matthew 6:16

To me this verse is pretty straight forward. Our Father knows what it is we need {and “need”} before we ask him for it. He hears the thoughts in our heads, the pain in our hearts, and everything in between. I think at times we feel abandoned by God as if He doesn’t understand us or doesn’t hear our prays but the truth is He hears us loud and clear. He knows exactly what we’re asking for or what we’re thinking of but are too afraid or busy to pray for.

We may ask for one thing but what is right for us might be something completely different. As the Garth Brooks song goes, “That just because he doesn’t answer doesn’t mean he don’t care, Some of God’s greatest gifts are unanswered prayers” So we may again doubt He understands or is listening to what we need but in fact He is setting the path for us to be exactly where we need to be.

This verse comforts me and reminds me His plan is the right one, the one I want to follow. I’ll still send my prayers up for what I think I need but I trust He knows what I truly need and will guide me there. What are your thoughts? When you hear/read this verse what comes to mind for you?
