Cleaning & Moving

Okay let’s all be honest, moving sucks! The only good part of moving is you get a whole new place to decorate and make your own. The packing, cleaning, and organizing part though, is absolutely no fan. If you’re like me, looking into something like Teacrate cardboard box rental may benefit you in being able to make the process of moving a lot easier! You can keep all your possessions secure and safe, which is the most important part.

Who agrees with me? I’m going to guess you’re nodding yes or agreeing with me in your head right now.

So now that we all agree it’s not a fun process I want to talk to y’all about some products that I’m using in my preparation for moving in with Joshua. While we still have 107 days {who’s counting though?} until we get married meaning 107 plus our honeymoon time until we officially live together, the cleaning and organizing process has begun.

The process of moving doesn’t have to be as bad as I’m making it out to be. By doing your research and finding the right people to help you, it can be a lot easier. I know someone who is also moving house. But instead of just moving to a new area, they are moving to a completely new state. Wisconsin. When he first told me he was moving, it was a surprise. But after a lot of discussions, we both worked out it was for the best. He’s moving into something like a voyager village home, which sounds amazing!

I remember when I was looking into something like greenville spartanburg south carolina when I was offered my dream job. I was so excited to move, but unfortunately something else came up, which meant I had to turn it down. But I do still think about the possibility of one day relocating.

If you don’t know, right now my mom and I live together. It’s honestly been the ideal situation and the woman is amazing {she’s fun to hang out with, cooks, cleans, helps with blog stuff, and makes some drool worthy stove top popcorn}. I know that just sounded like I was filling out a dating profile for her haha. Really though it has been awesome and I wouldn’t trade the time together for anything. So with that said, I would like to leave the house in tip top shape when I move out and my room/bathroom all ready for her to redecorate and have some fun.

My top picks were all picked up from Walmart because let’s be honest {again} the stores are convenient as in they’re everywhere and you cannot beat the prices!! So to pre-clean and then clean again once the move out date arrives my favorites are Tide PODS laundry detergent, Bounty Select-a-Size paper towels {y’all I use far too many of these}, Swiffer Wet Jet Mop, Unstoppables Air Refresher, and Charmin Ultra Strong {because it’s polite to restock}.

So for the whole cleaning process I always use the most insane amount of paper towels. It’s an issue. Especially when I’m baking or doing a deep clean. The reason Bounty Select-a-Size has become my go to is because I can obviously pick the size I want to use {aka big ole sheet} and this makes cleaning up a big mess a whole lot easier.

Next up is all the laundry that has to be done before you make it to the new place. You don’t want to bring dirty curtains, sheets, towels, or clothes to a brand new clean place! These Tide PODS make it extremely easy to get cycles done stat as they have a 3-in-1 solution {detergent, stain remover, and brightener}. Aka sign me up so I don’t have to remember to put all of those in!

Unstoppables Air Refresher is also a must because of that same reason. I love spritzing a bit on my curtains or thicker blankets that are only used on occasion and don’t need a full washing. It’s a great way to an instant burst of airy undertones to freshen up any space!

Cleaning the floors is typically the last step as you’ll be dragging items over it, people will be walking in and out with their shoes on, and all the dust you’re brushing off from the furniture will land on it. Once everything complete though, I whip out my Swiffer Wet Jet, lock Reese Poppy away {she chases the thing nonstop}, and get to work! I’m not gonna lie, I usually dance while completing this task.

Lastly, replace the toilet paper and pack a couple extras to fill all the bathrooms in your new place!

If you’re moving I’d love to hear about your process and any tips you’ve learned from past moves! Also be sure to scoop up these products at Walmart for your next move to make the process a bit easier and a whole lot cleaner!! Also check out their New Home Clean Collection.

Thank you to Walmart and P&G for sponsoring this post. All opinions and views are of course my own!

  3. Agreed the cleaning and actual moving part of moving are no fun. We’ve moved quite a bit and have found that labeling boxes and packing up one room at time helps us to stay organized.

    • I am definitely going to take that idea of packing one room at a time. I don’t know why I haven’t thought of that yet! Would definitely make the process less overwhelming.
