Embroidered Denim

How to style one of Spring’s biggest trends, embroidered denim.

When I spotted these jeans at Anthropologie, I was very surprised by overwhelming excitement I felt. I LOVED them and these jeans are so not me. They’re kind of edgy, a little boho. But there was no doubt that I would be bringing them home. I think they honestly reminded me of a pair of jeans I had in elementary school from Limited Too. Anyone else having the same flashbacks? They’re denim was always embroidered, bedazzled, or filled with patches of shiny fabric. So I guess this was 8-10 year old {seriously can’t remember when Limted Too was the “cool” store} Laura in me screaming for these to come home.

So how to style these embroidered jeans? Or any embroidered for denim.

Option 1: Pair the denim with a neutral top {blouse, tee, or sweater}. Think white, gray, navy, black, or cream. This allows the embroidery to really take center stage. Also giving you a more classic look.

Option 2: Chambray. Denim on denim is still on trend. You’ll see it everywhere again this spring and probably well into the summer. With these jeans I’d wear a simple long sleeve button down chambray with the sleeves rolled up OR a short sleeve chambray with crisp white buttons.

Option 3: Pattern top in a coordinating hue. I obviously went with this route. Going with a pattern top was definitely more my style, especially when that top has stripes. I went with one that had the same navy used in the embroidery to pull the two together. I love how this top does have a little pink on it, breaking up the blue a bit.

What’s your thoughts on embroidered denim?

Love this outfit, Laura! I’ve been dying to see someone in this striped top (I work at Anthro!) for weeks but have been too lazy to try it on myself. It looks amazing on you! Love it paired with the embroidered denim.
