Anyone else kind of hate being called a millennial? I’m not the biggest fan of it or the judgement that comes along with the label. I understand the label millennial is one we’ll have forever BUT I’d really like to change the mindset of those outside of the millennial group. There are A LOT of really great things about us millennials. We’re vibrant, open-minded, active, driven, and youthful. I’m pretty happy about all those things, what about you? Another thing we are, that I love, is just plain open. We talk about different topics past generations kept shh-shh or didn’t feel confident talking about. That’s a pretty great quality if you ask me!

So with that said, I want to dive into a topic that those just a little older than our millennial group and those in our parents age range maybe aren’t so open to talk about, cosmetic surgery. Don’t freak out! This is not a post saying, HEY you NEED cosmetic surgery. Rather it’s a post talking about the fact that we shouldn’t be afraid to talk about cosmetic surgery. If we’ve done it and we feel better afterwards awesome! If we’re thinking about getting something done but aren’t sure whether or not we should, we should feel as though we can talk to our friends {or family} about the possibility. Considering having any form of cosmetics done, you should always consult professionals before going ahead with anything. Speak to people who have gone through similar procedures or go and speak to a specialist who deal in performing these procedures. With NO judgement.

While I’m a firm believer that we should LOVE our bodies there are times when making a little tweak or having a surgical or non-surgical procedure might really help our confidence and self-esteem.

Raise your hand if you’ve ever thought about Botox before? P.S. My hand is raised. When I first started having thoughts about getting Botox I was hush-hush about it. I thought people would judge or say oh you’re crazy, you don’t need it. No I don’t need it right now but it’s a great way to prevent deep wrinkles for 10-20+ years from now. BUT that little need to keep it quiet feeling started to go away when I talked to several gals around my age {younger and older} that had already been getting Botox for a year or two or were planning to get it for an upcoming birthday. Why was I feeling the need to be quiet about a non-surgical procedure? I’m a millennial right, we’re open! So let’s open this discussion.

To keep with Botox, the injections are really on the rise for the millennial generation. This isn’t just for baby boomers anymore. While baby boomers are still using Botox to help out with their wrinkles and smooth skin, millennials are using the injections as a way to prevent those wrinkles and creases. There shouldn’t be any shame if you are thinking about getting any sort of procedure done, especially if you believe it will help boost your confidence a little. If you are planning on going ahead with getting botox, you need to make sure you speak to the right professionals who can give you the best advice moving forward. It is easy to go for the cheapest option, but being safe in any procedure is the best way to go. I’ve heard that consultations for botox in nyc is one of the best places to visit for treatment. It is better to be safe than sorry, even if it is a non surgical procedure. That’s why they’re talking about it so openly and why that should allow us to further our discussion into other injections, procedures, or med-spa services we had done last weekend.

I mean if my girl friend has a killer Obaji Radiance Peel at Aestethic Surgery of Charlotte over the weekend, I want her to tell me about it. That dewy look of Hayden Panettiere or Amanda Seyfried doesn’t come from just washing their face twice a day and using a couple of serums. There’s work put into that gorgeous skin. And if my best gal pal accomplishes a level of dewiness closer to those gals, I want to know how she got there! Don’t you? So ask your girl friends and tell them about the ViPeel you tried out or your experience with Micro-needling, or what kind of facial you’ve found works best for you.

So who’s open to talking about this topic more? I definitely am. I want flawless skin and I don’t know about you but when I’m 35, 40, 50+ I want people to still think I’m a lot younger than I am {I’m 27 and I still get carded regularly}. Therefore, I don’t think Botox as a preventative option is something I should be scared to talk about! And, I’m open to trying things out.

As you see in the photos of this post, I’m trying out a couple of different products. All of these items are from Aesthetic Surgery of Charlotte and actually part of a line created by Dr. Augenstein himself. Right now I’m using an anti-oxidant sunscreen {tinted, yay}, a polypeptide gel, and Saturday night brightener pads. How fun is the name of that last one? The Saturday night brightener pads are a once a week at home peel pad that provides exfoliation and brightening. Which HELLO what gal doesn’t want that before a Saturday night date?

If you’re open to talking about the topic more feel free to leave a comment below and I’ll comment back or email me at louellareese{@}gmail{dot}com. You can also reach out to Aesthetic Surgery of Charlotte to find out more about surgical, non-surgical, and/or med-spa services. Their social media is listed below as well. If you enjoy watching videos on procedures, you should definitely follow along!

I hope you now feel more confident in talking about cosmetic surgery and more impressed with our millennial generation!

Thank you for being so open! I’m 33, and have been getting Botox since I was 27! I know people thought I was crazy at that age…but, at this age, I still get carded! My skin looks smooth and I am happy! I also get once a month peels and wear 50spf! I think putting in the effort for your skin is so worth it! I think women should feel empowered to do what makes them feel happy and beautiful! Cheers to you for opening the dialogue and urging women to feel confident! ??
