Fearrington Village Travel Diary + Guide

Excited to share a travel diary + guide for my recent trip to Fearrington Village. Honestly one of my favorite places I have visited, for lots of reasons!

Two weekends ago Morgan and I made the short 2.5 hour drive from Charlotte to Pittsboro, NC.  Not a typical vacation destination but when Fearrington Village is the actual destination is pretty special! Fun Fact: I use to visit Fearrington Village with my family when I was in elementary and middle school. I loved it then for the Oreo cows {actually Belted Galloways, a rare breed of Scottish beef cattle} and after our visit two weekends ago, the cows still have my heart. There were a couple of other spots on property that excited me as well. I couldn’t wait to go back and see them as well as check into The Fearrington House Inn, a place I hadn’t previously stayed.

Just like the cows, the Inn did not disappoint. The service was incredible, the room was beyond adorable, and Fearrington Village literally thought of every little detail to make our stay amazing. As they do with all guests! So let’s dive into the trip + my recommendations for those visiting the adorable village.

The Farm

I have to talk about the farm first because this is what truly stuck in my memory after all my childhood visits. As stated above, I fell in love with the Oreo bows {Belted Galloways aka Belties}. To this day, they are still my favorite thing about Fearrington Village, the adorable goats too. When you pull into Fearrington Village, the Belties are the first to greet you! They have been on property since the 1980s when the owner RB Fitch brought a herd of six from Virginia. Today, there are over thirty Belties on property. Y’all, they are so much fun to look at and watch. They have a lot of personality. Check out the one below, posing for his photo opt!

Where To Eat

Fearrington Village has a couple dining options. They have super casual all the way to incredibly snazzy! For dinner, we opted on the casual side at the Roost Beer Garden, the newest addition to the village. Here they offer wood fire pizza, local beers, and wine by the glass + live music. Morgan and I grabbed two pizzas to split, Six Cheese, Confit Garlic, Rosemary, Lemon Salt and the special of the week. Open Thursday-Sunday.

The Goat is where we grabbed tea and coffee plus sweet treats. Chocolate chip cookies the first day and housemade gelato the next. Here they also serve artisan soups, salads, sandwiches and a large selection of wine. Open Monday-Sunday.

The Granary is where my family use to eat whenever we visited. Here they serve lunch Wednesday-Sunday. The menu is full of comfort food {yum} and Southern classics with a little English twist.

The Fearrington House Restaurant an exceptional farm to fork dining experience. Within the restaurant are several intimate dining rooms. What I love about the restaurant is each room carries a different vibe. While each room is still very intimate and special. This is the place to go for a romantic dinner and/or special occasion. We stopped in for champagne and fell in love with the atmosphere of the bar. Oh, and the bar snacks. Almonds, popcorn, and olives. Open Wednesday-Sunday.

Where To Stay

Well, there’s actually only one place to stay on property, The Fearrington House Inn, and I couldn’t possibly recommend it enough! As I mentioned above, our room was adorable, the service was incredible, and every little detail was thought out. What I mean by that is, the floors in the bathroom floors are heated + a heated towel rack and when they complete turn down service there are actual chocolates on your bed and port wine + glasses next to your bed. You also arrive to a fresh bowl of apples in your room, snacks, and water.

As if all of that wasn’t enough, you have two extra rooms to enjoy throughout the day. There’s a garden room and lounge. The lounge offers coffee throughout the day and cozy couches. While the garden room is the perfect spot to {you guessed it} admire the gardens and spend an hour or two reading. We enjoyed our morning coffee + tea here.

What To Do

Bike: When you stay at The Fearrington House Inn you have access to some cruiser bikes. Morgan and I took them for a spin one afternoon to check out more of the property. There’s a beautiful park, Camden Park, that is a very short ride from the Inn. This park is in memory of the owner’s late wife, Jenny Fitch. In the park you will find all of her favorite plants and a sweet pond. There are also trails if you’re a little more adventurous.

Shop: There’s a fabulous boutique on property, Dovecote Style. Morgan and I spent hours {literally} in this boutique. We tried on so many items, flipped through books, swooned over their children section, and each brought home a little something. There is also the cutest bookstore, McIntyre’s Books, you ever did see! I imagine this bookstore being the scene for a movie. It’s just that sweet! I have special memories being in this store as a child and going back, it was just as special. It’s a MUST stop when visiting. My favorite part about the store is those that work in the store + locals that stop in regularly leave review slips in books around the shop. They are so fun to read and helped me pick out my new summer read!

Relax: There is an incredible spa on property. Here you can truly unwind and enjoy your beautiful surroundings. You can choose from a variety of treatments, see here. I personally vote for the Cucumber Melon Facial and Fearrington Computer Relief Massage.
