Fall Layering // Banner Elk, NC

My favorite type of fall layering, sweater + denim jacket + simple white tee!

I just want to take a moment and celebrate the fact that fall has arrived here in Charlotte! We have temperatures in the low-80s down to the mid-70s. Nights are even down in the 50s which is amazing! I seriously could not be more excited! One because it feels amazing not walk outside and immediately be sweating and two, fall layering is now a possibility! While layers are only needed here or there during the day, they’re definitely needed in the evening. Which of course has me reaching for my favorite sweater blazer {y’all I am sorry for how often you will see this on Louella Reese}.

While in Banner Elk in late August, we actually experienced full on fall weather. Days were in the mid-60s and evenings sometimes went below 50 degrees. Therefore, the sweater blazer wasn’t enough on it’s own. I decided to go full on country {or mountains or farm-like} and add a little denim on denim. Which left me reaching for another favorite, a denim jacket. I really love the look of denim paired with denim. Although, it definitely has to be of a different shade for it to not over take the look {and you}.

Fall layering is one of my favorites! Getting to wear several of your favorite fall items at once, it’s a total win! For me, I typically go with a neutral top and layer other neutral pieces on top. Or I may wear a statement top {think floral, embellished, stripe, etc..} with neutral items layered over. Either of these two combinations keep your look from being too overwhelming or taking you over. Also, you could pair a neutral top and sweater {or denim jacket} with a statement coat. Allowing the top layer to really pop!

P.S. I can’t remember if I’ve talked about these jeans or not but they’re amazing! High-wasited {obsessed}, stretch but not too much, and a great darker shade. I cut the hem of them to make them a little shorter {short girl problems} and also have the raw hem. If you’re on the search for new jeans, I highly recommend Mott & Bow. They’re so comfy + cute and affordable!

Well don’t be too jealous. We had it and then it left! Now we’re full on 90% + humidity. Fingers crossed we both experience fall soon!
