You may remember this dress from mid-summer when I wore it here. You also may remember it if you follow me via Instagram stories as I wore the dress a TON over the summer. Well it’s fall now but I’m just not ready to saw goodbye to my favorite maxi dress. Therefore, I’m making it my go to fall maxi dress thanks to a couple of other go to fall items. Rather than wearing it with sandals and a silk scarf as I did over the summer, I’m pairing the maxi dress with my trusty denim jacket and Hunter rain boots

I have ALWAYS loved the look of Hunter rain boots with dresses but never felt it was a look I could pull off!! Well late in the summer, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and start wearing my rain boots with more than just jeans. I tried a skirt {here and here} and shorts {here and here}. After those went okay, I dove right in and tried the boots with a couple of dresses. My favorite, this maxi dress + rain boot combination. The boots {plus denim jacket} completely transform the look of the dress and give it this fun Joanna Gaines vibe. Anyone else want to be her and live on a beautiful in Waco, TX?

I wore this look while we did a little exploring around Banner Elk in late August. There were so many beautiful pieces of properties and farms. I was truly in heaven! We stopped by a couple of them to shoot and I was dreaming that they could be my playground every photoshoot.

Fun Fact: Growing up, I always wanted a big ole mansion. You know, those mega-mansions with endless rooms and crazy oversized decor. If that didn’t work out the next choice was to live in a major city. Like New York City or Chicago in a penthouse suite. The high life is what I had in mind. Well dreams have completely changed. Now, I want a simple house, ideally a farm house with several acres. No more city life for this gal, take me down some backroads and add a cow or two {specifically a Beltie, like these cows}. Isn’t it crazy how dreams change? What is your dream house look like?

I absolutely love this style on you. Such a fun, casual, laid-back approach to a maxi dress for early autumn. It was also fun to read about how your dream home has changed. When I was little, I wanted a mansion as well – I think that’s a little girl thing – and now I’d be happy with a cute apartment *near* the city but not *in* it. I love city life!
