72 Hours with The King and Prince

Excited to share a travel diary + mini guide for my recent trip to The King and Prince on St. Simons Island. Get ready to crave the beach!

Hope y’all had an amazing weekend and enjoy beautiful fall weather where you are! Today, I’m diving into my time with The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort on St. Simons Island last month. As previously mentioned in this post, I love the beach during the fall season. There’s something so magical about the beach when cooler temperatures arrive, the crowds die down, and you can snug up in cozy layers as you walk along the water. Therefore, I’m excited to share more about the trip and why you should head to The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort both now {fall season} and in the summer.

Morgan and I spent 72 hours at The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort with a full itinerary prepared by the resort. So today, I’m going to share a travel diary of that experience plus a couple of recommendations to help you plan your next vacation to the Golden Isles. The Golden Isles of Georgia are a great place to escape as they are a super easy drive from several southern major cities. Including Atlanta, GA and Charlotte, NC. They are just about five hours to five and a half hours from both cities. I will truly say, after this being my second trip to St. Simons Island, I would HIGHLY recommend The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort over other options. You can read more about my first experience here.

Where to Stay

The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort, of course! Here you will receive true souther hospitality, incredible views, decedent cuisine, and more. The resort offers 28 room variations. Therefore, you have lots of options for you, your significant other, family, and/or friends. To name a few, there are oceanfront rooms and suites, resort view rooms, beach villas, private guest houses {called resort residences online}, and pet friendly accommodations. If this all overwhelms you, don’t stress, staff is one hand to offer their recommendations and help you find the perfect spot for your vacation. Also, I personally loved staying in the oceanfront room as there was a fabulous view and you’re just steps away from the lobby, Echo {the resort’s restaurant}, and the pools.

You truly feel like family while staying at the resort. The staff makes you feel right at home upon arrival and you’re quickly filled with stories about the resort, their experience there, and why they absolutely love it! They’re also quick to help if you need or desire anything! Fun fact {that wasn’t so fun}: I was pretty sick during this trip with a nasty cold, the staff was incredibly helpful! They provided me with a variety of medicine, lots of water, and constantly asked if there was anything else they could do. It was all very sweet! Felt just like having your mom was there taking care of you.

What to Eat

Echo

Located within the resort, the restaurant offers oceanfront views and out of this world southern coastal cuisine. This was by far my favorite spot for dining during the trip! Everything I tasted was truly beyond incredible! The Executive Chef, James Flack, is a master of his craft and will have you begging for more even when you are past the point of being full.

For breakfast, I recommend the ECHO donuts to kick things off. These little cinnamon sugar waffle bites with chocolate drizzle sauce are so sinfully delicious. Since I indulged in the donuts, I went the healthy route for my main breakfast dish both mornings we dined here. I tried the Georgia Peach Steel Cut Oatmeal and Steel Cut Oatmeal with bananas and berries. Both were incredible but you should absolutely try the Georgia Peach version!

For dinner, start with the Venison Tornados. Hands down one of the best appetizers I have ever had! The venison was cooked perfectly and literally melted in your mouth. For the main course, I would recommend trying out the catch of the day. It’s always fresh, local if possible, and truly amazing! For dessert, I don’t think you can do wrong but personally I say, try the St. Lois gooey cake. It was kind of to die for {aka totally to die for}.

The King and Prince Golf Course Club House

Another favorite of mine during the trip. Mainly because I’ve been on a huge chicken salad kick and their version was one of the best I have had. Very light, fresh, and paired with these crispy toast pieces. A great light lunch option after completing a round of golf. They offer a variety of salads, sandwiches, and soups. Everything is made fresh and you can definitely tell! While eating, you’re able to look out over the golf course and during those days when it’s not too hot + humid or too chill in the winter, you can sit outside on the patio/deck.

What to Do

Swim: When you think of the beach, swimming is probably one of the first things that come to mind. The resort offers three main pools and one pool + hot tub at both the north and south villa complexes. The main pools located behind the lobby overlook the ocean and receive a refreshing ocean breeze. During the high season The Sea Shack Bar + Bites offers poolside service. Margarita please! For those with children, there are two kiddie pools. One in 1-foot deep and the other is 3-feet deep.

Beach: Again, just steps away from all resort accommodations. This beach is perfect for walking and running as the sand is very hard packed from the low tide. We seriously walked for miles! Also perfect for setting up shop and spending the day in the sun. Bring chairs, yard games {corn hole, bocce ball, and latter golf}, and beverages. Or head back to The Sea Shack Bar + Bites for food and drinks.

Golf: The resort offers an award winning course with a challenging lay out and spectacular views! Visiting the golf course was one of my favorite parts of the trip. Fun fact: I was on the golf team in high school. But I haven’t played since. Until visiting The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort. This course brought back my love of golf and I cannot wait to play again! Their course is absolutely stunning, one of the prettiest, if not the prettiest I have ever seen. There are salt marshes, dramatic island holes, and a very interesting lake characteristic for hole number nine. They also offer a sweet clubhouse with tasty lunch options.

Tennis: There are two courts on property and play is complimentary when staying at the resort. You can also partake in private or group lessons to up your game! The courts, much like everything else, are just steps away from the main lobby.

Explore: There is SO much to do on the island. I was truly blown away with all the activities they have! Some of my favorites include: bike riding around the island, taking a trolley tour around to explore + learn more about the island {we toured with Cap Fendig and he was amazing. Very knowledgeable and fun!}, and visiting Christ Church and Fort Frederica {this island has a lot of history}. You can find pretty much everything to do on the island here

Shop: There are three major shopping areas on the island. Each location offers local boutiques, souvenir shops, galleries, and more. My personal favorite stop is Redfern. There you’ll find a great variety of shops and delicious spots to eat. The center also offers a really cool beachy atmosphere. There is also The Village which is right by the Pier, here you will find souvenir shops and local restaurants. Lastly, there is the Shops at Sea Island, where you will find upscale shopping and dining.

There is honestly so much to do at The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort + St. Simons Island, I could go on forever. However, I will stop here before I completely overwhelm you with information!

While we didn’t do much driving while on the island, other than one day of exploring {and shooting looks}, we did have that five and half hour drive mentioned above. Luckily, Morgan and I have the opportunity to try out a Toyota Highlander for the trip and were totally spoiled by all of it’s amazing perks! I completely fell in love with this vehicle and am now convinced this needs to be my next SUV. Seriously, I’ve already told Joshua it’s on my wish list. The size of the vehicle is perfection and the interior design is amazing. So comfy, yet spacious. Morgan and I both did not want to say farewell to our trip or the SUV. Ready for this to be my road trip vehicle every time!!

Overall though, I highly recommend the resort and visiting St. Simons Island. Add it to your travel bucket list!  If you have any questions about the island, resort, or my experience feel free to leave a comment below or send me an email ā€“ [email protected].
