Louella Reese Home: Designing the Living Room

Take a peek at our beautiful living room design board by Shannon Claire Interiors! Plus how the board came together and a little about the design process! We are so thrilled with how our renovations have been going so far and can’t wait to get started with the roofing changes we intend to make very soon!

Last week, it was all about our dining room space and today, it is all about the living room! The space we use most often and where everyone ends up when we have people over. This is also the section of the room I was most excited about. I could not wait for Shannon Claire Interiors to share her vision for the room and create a space for us to snuggle up on the couch and watch movies in. She definitely created that for us! A space that is inviting, homey, and cozy. Exactly what we wanted! P.S. Did you catch the full reveal two weeks ago? If not, you can see this design board come to life here.

Along with sharing our dining room design board last week, I shared a little about the design process and working with a designer. So today, I want to move a step further in the process and dive into where everything came from and our top picks were for the items that fill this living room space {as well as the dining room}. Just quickly, I wanted to let you know that I’m currently contemplating whether or not it is worth looking into buying a new staircase. I have heard wonderful things about the balustrades that can be found at Pear Stairs. I guess this is a conundrum for another day!

Top Picks for Furniture

Joss & Main – This was our first “stop” when choosing furniture for the space. Joss & Main has been a longtime go to for Shannon and myself. We both have purchased several pieces from the company and have absolutely loved them. They have a crazy large selection of items with a wide range of styles. Therefore, it’s very easy to everyone to find something that fits their personal style. For this space, the couch, mirror, side chairs, and rug are from Joss & Main.

All Modern – A quick second go to for both of us as All Modern is actually a sister company to Joss & Main. All Modern is a little more, well Modern, than Joss & Main. Perfect for all of you that love that clean, natural, simplistic look. If you haven’t checked out the online store yet and you are into the modern style, you need to go there fast! You’ll fall in love with everything, I promise. For this space, the coffee table is from All Modern. As well as similar side tables.

Pier 1 Imports – Does anyone else absolutely LOVE browsing Pier 1 Imports? This has to be one of my favorite stores to walk around. I find myself wanting just about everything and they’re constantly influencing my creative side with their tablescapes. I mean, aren’t they the best? Tell me you haven’t snapped a couple of photos while visiting the store for inspiration. Or purchased everything on the table to replicate at home. Aside from their tablescapes they also have beautiful furniture. From accent chairs and tables to couches, they will leave you swooning! While nothing in this living room space is from Pier 1 Imports, our dining room table {on sale right now} and end chairs + slipcovers are from here.

Top Picks for Decor

Minted – Shannon and I are both obsessed with Minted! They have incredible artwork, prints, and photos at a variety of price ranges. AND you have the ability to have them framed. It’s truly the best way to go about ordering artwork. If you’re an animal lover like me {did you see the cow print in our dining room?} Minted has the BEST selection of animal artwork, check it out here. They also have beautiful abstract artwork. Which I am now into, thanks to Shannon. Crushing hard on this piece. For this space, the large piece of artwork over the couch is from Minted.

Pike Nursery – Every homey, inviting space needs plants. It’s truly a fact. Plants make your home feel more cozy and lived in while also making a statement. Plants are also great for the air in your home. Therefore, you need them y’all! Pike Nursery is a local nursery here in Charlotte but they also have locations in around Atlanta. If you’re local to either locations, I highly recommend visiting them. I do not have a green thumb and they filled me with enough information and tips to keep my plants alive and flourishing, they deserve a metal!

Lowes – I’m sure a lot of you who own a home, have done home remodeling, or have worked on updating your rental space have frequented Lowe’s. We are a Lowe’s home, we love the home improvement store! The staff is extremely helpful, always and you know you’re purchasing quality items when you buy something from Lowe’s. Joshua would pick Lowe’s over any other home improvement store every day of the week {and he does}. They’re a great to go when you aren’t sure about a project or something you’re updating in your home. Such as a new light fixture, appropriate paint for the space you’re painting, flooring upgrades, etc. They will have the items and also help with instructions on how to use them. Thank you to the gentlemen at Lowe’s that provided tips on hanging our new light fixture in the dining room + how to swag it.

Pier 1 Imports – As mentioned above, the tablescapes get me every time! They also have wonderful pillows, seasonal decor, and baskets.

Home Goods – Oh Home Goods! You get me every single time. Anyone else experience a black out when walking into Home Goods and walk out with 10 items before they even know what happened? Home Good is one of those stores you actually HAVE to go into weekly as they have new items arriving every single day. My mom and I have found that Wednesday and Thursday are the best days to browse. The shelves are stocked full of items and they seem to have the best selections those days. Just a little pro tip for you! They have the best pillows, shelf decor, throw blankets, frames, wall art, and lamps at can’t beat prices! For this space, similar pink pillows and blue pattern pillows are from Home Goods.

Target – A great place to go when you’re on a budget but still want great quality pieces you can have for years to come! Much like Home Goods, Target is one of those places you walk into needing maybe one or two items but walk out with 6-10 before you realize it. Everything there is just so good! Especially the decor section and now they have Hearth & Home with Magnolia. For this space, the floor lamp is from Target.
