How to Recover from a Week Away from Home

After a week away from home, it’s time to recover and get back into routine!

And we’re back. Monday has arrived and Joshua and I are finally home after a week + away! If you follow Louella Reese via Instagram {which you should!} you may have seen via Instagram stories that Joshua and I were in Alabama. Some people asked if we were looking at houses, moving there. The answer to that, is a hard NO haha! We were there for family. I’ll explain more via Instagram stories later today, so be sure to check it out. Today, we’re diving back into work life and our typical routine. Being away for a week+ can be rough on your routine and your body. Therefore, I’m sharing a couple of ways to make the transition easier, healthier, and smoother.

If you have some tips, I would to hear them! Comment below and share.

Clean your house before you leave

Coming home to a clean house just might be the best thing ever! There’s no stress to clean things up and you’re good to go for the week ahead. I find coming home to a clean house allows me to relax and feel even more excited about being home! if you come home to a dirty space you’re bound to have a little {or a lot} of anxiety and feel you’re to do list just grew exponentially. So do yourself a favor and tidy things up before you leave! Empty the trash {you’ll keep your house smelling fresh}, wipe down counters, load and run the dishwasher, vacuum, and put away everything that doesn’t belong out.

Water, Water, Water

Chances are you didn’t drink enough while away. Am I right? I know for me, that is almost always the case. Either I forget or I indulge a little too much in other beverages. Are you with me? Grab a refillable water bottle and keep it with you throughout the day. Make a goal to drink the same about of ounces as pounds you weigh the first day or two you get back. Your body and skin will thank you!

Face Masks

Another thing you’re skin will thank you for! One of the first things I do when I get home is wash my face and immediately put on my favorite face mask {currently, this is my favorite}. Upon washing off I instantly feel refreshed and a million times better. Doing two or three throughout the week you return home will help to get your skin back in order. Opt to do one every other day.

Fruits + Vegetables

Similar to water, it is probably likely that you didn’t intake your normal amount of fruits and vegetables. Stock the fridge with lots of them and other healthy options. Doing this will help get you back to your regular diet and help ween you off of those desserts + savory treats you indulged in all week.

Hit the Gym

While away, you may not have had the opportunity to hit the gym at all. Or you may have skipped your typical work outs for walks outside to explore {great choice} but now it’s time to get back to it! While it may not be easy to dive right back in {I know I’d rather hit snooze} it’s best to start back ASAP. Plus, you’ll feel SO much better and more energized if you get that work out in. Plus, bikini season is right around the corner {Joshua’s favorite line, he says this all the time when he is deciding whether to work out or not or whether to indulge or not}

Early to Bed

Sleeping schedules usually change quite a bit when you’re away from home for an extended period of time. Whether it’s for work or for play, things change! Upon returning home, it’s time to snap back and grab some zzzz’s. Doing so will help you catch up on some much needed rest. Also, help keep you from getting sick! If you’re like me, that happens a lot after getting home after being away for a while.

Vitamins

Along with the last recommendation, getting back to your vitamins will help keep you from getting sick. Joshua and I always stir an EmergenC pack into our waters the day before we leave and the day we get back. Joshua swears by it and I have to say, it has definitely seemed to help me stay healthy! I also always forget to pack my vitamins when going away, therefore getting back into the routine of taking them is a MUST when getting home!
