Instagram FAQs Vol. 1

Happy Friday! I decided to spice things up a little today and answer some questions y’all sent me via direct message this week! Receiving questions from y’all is my absolute favorite and I love answering them for you or finding products you’re searching for. Doing so honestly makes my day! So ALWAYS feel free to shoot me a DM. So these are some Instagram FAQs…

Questions

How do you curl your hair?

I actually have a couple of blog posts on this. There’s my full Curling Wand Tutorial for My Go To Curls, the products I use to keep my hair healthy and shiny {aka how to keep your curls looking pretty and healthy}, and most recently, Two Easy Summer Hairstyles which includes bouncy curls.

What’s your favorite/go to blogging advice?

My favorite piece of advice that has also become my go to. As well as one I remind myself of often. Is to stay true to who you are. Whether that means the photos you post, the clothing you wear, the brands you work with, or the captions/blog posts you write. Always ask yourself, is this me? Does this feel authentic? Is this something I would wear outside of taking blog photos? Is this a company I admire/love/am addicted to/excited about?

Staying true to you is SO important! It is easy to get lost when looking at others sites and social media accounts all day long but people follow and read your blog for a reason. Because they LIKE YOU! So be you! There’s already a Julia, Carly, Mackenzie, Caitlin (you get the idea) don’t try to be them, or copy them, they have their style, their aesthetic, their brand – that has been done (is being done) so be YOU! And stay true to yourself!

I love that you rock being fair skinned! Any fave products that work well with fair tones?

First, thank you so much for saying that! I always wonder if I should be using self tanner. So I definitely appreciate the compliment. Second, for the most part I try to embrace my fair skin and play it up. That means I opt for light products, specifically tinted moisturizers. My favorite right now is jane iredale. It is so light and I honestly forget I have make up on when wearing her products. I also LOVE blush and think a pretty pink/peach shade looks amazing with fair skin. It gives your face some definition {us fair skinned gals need that} while also making your blue eyes pop {or green}. You can find my full everyday make up list in this summer everyday make up post

Know any budget friendly photographers in Charlotte?

There are SO many fabulous photographers in Charlotte! I mean, have you seen Tank Top Photography? That’s Joshua’s Instagram handle, for his photography business haha. But on serious note {even though he is amazing} I have worked with several incredible photographers over the last four years and would recommend them all.

Amanda Moss Photography is the first that I worked with and she pushed me to have fun during shoots, be silly and just have a great time. She’s amazing for bloggers, engagement shoots, weddings, and families.

Laura Sumrak is HANDS DOWN the BEST photographer to work with in the Charlotte area for shooting your home or any interior space. She is incredible! She has a way of making every space look light and airy. Just look at her Instagram, it is so dreamy.

Most recently, I’ve been working with Kristen Day for blog content. She is so sweet and always up for my adventures. Her photos are also always SO crisp, which I absolutely love! Kristen is great for bloggers, familes/couples, and newborns/children.

How did you and your husband meet? Any funny or awkward stories from y’all?

I actually shared all the details on how we met and how we started dating in a how we met post. It is quite funny {in my mind haha} so you’ll have to give the post a read. We probably have a million funny and/or awkward stories from the early days. However, I think the way we became “official” is quite funny/awkward because neither of us really knew how to have the conversation. I’m spilling the details on that in the how we met post too.

If I think of more specific funny and/or awkward stories, I’ll share them in my next post with Joshua!

Where haven’t you been that you’re dying to visit?

Oh my gosh my list is probably a mile long so I’ll spare you and share my top five.

Scotland
Ireland
New England
Quebec City
Jackson Hole, Wyoming

Best affordable fitness programs in charlotte?

To be honest, I either work out at the gym in our townhouse community {which is included in rent} or take walks around the neighborhood or hikes at the U.S. National White Water Center. This is going to be an annoying statement, I know it, BUT I honestly love working out and need no motivation to do so. It’s my favorite escape from work, stress, and life so I’m happy to do it daily.

From January until last week I was doing the BBG program. Which you can do at home or at the gym. The app for it is pretty affordable or you can buy the PDF which in the grand scheme of things is pretty affordable when you think about it being a 12 week program. I freaking LOVED it and noticed such a difference in the look of my body and my strength.

Now, I’m doing the #JGoGetLifted Program created by one of my high school girl friends. It’s an 8 week program that you can do at home or at a gym. So far, it’s totally kicking my butt.

I wish I could give you more specific workouts for the Charlotte area but unfortunately I really haven’t tried any so I can’t recommend with an honest review or opinion of any.

This weekend Joshua and I are doing a staycation at The Morehead Inn here in Charlotte. Being just under five miles from our home we pass it almost daily when out and about. So we’re very excited to finally check it out! I’ll be reporting back with a full review plus some recommendations for the Dilworth area if you happen to stay there.
