What I’ll Be Wearing for Fall 2018

Styling fall polka dots {okay they’re really clouds but they look like polka dots} and what I’ll be wearing fall 2018!

Okay, this should come as no surprise, Fall is my favorite season. Yes, I know, for us southern folks we still have about three weeks (maybe more) of summer. However, after visiting Blowing Rock and Wisconsin, I have had a full taste of fall and can’t wait for the season to officially hit Charlotte. With that said, I am easing into Fall here on Louella Reese. A couple of recent look that work for late summer, early fall: a cozy cardigan + shorts combination, the same cozy cardigan with a basic tee and jeans, a casual look with a feminine touch, and an ultra preppy fall ready look.

Today is no different! Take off the sweater and you’re set for those warmer September temps. Throw it back on for evenings or safe for full on fall. P.S. one of my favorite ways to style a dress for fall is to throw a chunky sweater over it: exhibit a (also my favorite sweater ever).

Okay, like I said above, I’m crazy excited for the fall season. Crisp fall days call for chunky knits, great denim, loafers + booties, and really, all these cozy. So yes, outfit planning and fall buying has already kicked off. Are you with me? Excited for the new season? Already buying fall ready pieces?

So I thought it would be fun to point out some of my favorite items for the fall season as well as top trends I’m loving.

What I’ll be Wearing for Fall 2018

Favorite pieces

Cozy knits: Quite literally my favorite thing about fall. Big, oversized cozy knits. From pullover sweaters to cardigans. I love them all and cannot wait to snuggle up in them.

Loafers: My shoe of choice come fall. Loafers and oxfords. Last year, I truly could not get enough of both. Especially oxfords, I wore them a ton. Both are great for more casual looks and also those a little on the dressy side.

Midi Dresses + Skirts: I am ALL about the midi length right now and lucky for me, it’s in style again this season. Plus, the length is great for providing a little extra warmth. I’ll be opting for midi dresses and skirts over denim on most occasions.

Totes: HUGE fan of totes as of late (including the one in today’s post). I would love to find a really great one for the fall season that could transfer into winter too.

Basics for Layering: Bring on the basic tees and sweater tanks (told you I’m obsessed with it). Both are great for layering under flannels, sweater, denim jackets, and more.

Favorite trends

Plaid: This is probably a duh but plaid is going to be HUGE this fall! Maybe even bigger than normal! It was all over the place on the runways and clothing stores have already added a lot of it for early fall shopping. And I don’t hate it! I am all about the preppy pattern.

Western Vibes: When we went to Kate Spade’s Presentation in February it gave us ALL of the western vibes! From boots to lots of denim to bandanas and prairie dresses. For this western gal at heart, I am pretty excited about it.

New Prep (Clueless Edition): Okay 90s Laura is dying over this trend! Think uber preppy: varsity jackets, bright plaid fabrics (Cher Horowitz’s iconic yellow plaid suit), classic shoes, oversized knits, and fanny packs.

Skirts: I know that really broad but truthfully skirts are going to be really big this year. Dresses and pants will be passed over on occasion for skirts. So make sure you stock up!
