Let’s be real, 99% of us are ready to start packing away our winter wardrobe and dive into new spring items! So I’m sharing some tips on how to start wearing spring dresses now!

Stuck in a style rut? Over wearing the same winter clothing items? Yep, me too. These last few weeks of winter are always the hardest. We’re all just sitting, waiting, wishing for spring to fully arrive. So we can feel the sun on our skin {how good does that sound?} and start wearing new items. Well, attending NYFW earlier this month made me step out of my typical winter wardrobe and into some creative new looks. Sadly, this is my last look from fashion week BUT it’s also the most fun {in my opinion}. This looked pushed me a little outside of my style comfort zone which resulted in a fun look that is slightly spring but also SO wearable right now! I mean, it was like 30-40 degrees when I wore this to the Sherrie Hill show.
So let’s breakdown this look and talk about how you can wear spring dresses now!

Wear Now: Add Colored Tights
Most of us typically gravitate towards black, nude, or gray tights, right? While those colors are great for winter, they aren’t going to pull you into the spring season. So reach for an unexpected color! Think blue, emerald green, raspberry, burnt orange. Opt for a color that is included in your dress. The tights will make that color pop even more and liven up your look!
Wear Now: Layer with Feminine Socks
These little socks for a last minute addition and I am SO glad I came across them. They provide a playful, feminine feel. They also provide a little extra warmth. Which, of course, is perfect for those cooler days! Similar to the tights, grab a pair in a color that is in the pattern of your spring dress. You could absolutely choose the same color as your tights if you want a more streamlined look. Or if you want to have a little extra fun, opt for a pair in a color that compliments the tights and matches your dress.
Wear Now: Pair with Closed Toe Shoes
This is probably a duh but closed toe shoes are going to keep you warmer. While also keeping your look appropriate for the current season. When we think of shoes to pair with dresses, we typically reach for booties, flats, wedges, heels, or pumps but why not reach for sneakers! They’re comfier and probably a little warmer than most of those options.
Wear Now: Add a Fun Jacket
For colder days, a jacket is required. Have fun a layer on something a little different than your typical denim jacket or go to winter coat. Maybe a suede moto jacket, a sherpa lined denim jacket, or a light hued trench coat. All of these are a little different and maybe somewhat unexpected for you! Fashion is all about having fun and showing off your personal style, right? Test your fashion comfort zone and see if something new can reflect your personal style more than you ever imagined! {like this sherpa lined denim jacket does for me}.
