Let’s chat about how to make that time of the month more comfortable!

3 Ways to Make That Time of the Month More Comfortable | Louella Reese

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Always at Sam’s Club. The opinions and text are all mine.

So that time of the month rolls around and let me guess, you’re feeling bloated, irritable, tired, hangry (like 99% of the time), and just blah. Am I right? If you’re anything like me, you just answered yes to every single one of those statements.

It’s definitely not the most exciting, liberating, or comfortable time of the month. However, there are ways to make it more bearable and wayyyy more comfortable! Since we are dealing with our period EVERY. SINGLE. MONTH. why not figure out the ways to make it comfortable? So I’m spilling few tips and tricks on how I stay more comfortable during that time of the month. And why I think you should do them as well!

Indulge in Your Favorites…And Don’t Feel Bad

cY’all let’s be SUPER honest right now, during that time of the month we crave VERY unhealthy things. Especially those first one or two days (if you’re anything like me).  While these cravings sometimes pass or we are strong willed enough to push them away, I also say it is totally okay to indulge them! Now I’m not saying go all out for all 4-7 days but rather one or two times.

We are going through a lot during this time after all! Why shouldn’t we get to indulge a bit, have a little comfort food! So here is your pass ladies, indulge in your favorite sweet treat and DON’T you for a second feel guilty about it! Indulging once or twice isn’t going to throw off your whole eating plan. In fact, chocolate is actually good for you when you’re on your period, but only when it’s the 70%+ cocoa kind. Dark chocolate encourages your body to release endorphins and to improve your mood – literally people may thank you for eating chocolate. Additionally, dark chocolate is high in magnesium, a mineral that’s often associated with easing cramps.

If you’re wondering what my cravings/indulgent treats are, 100% dark chocolate every single time and occasionally popcorn!

TIP: Also drink lots of water and if you’re a fan of tea, sip a few mugs. It might seem odd to drink lots of water when you’re feeling all bloated and full, but the more water you drink, the more easily you will eliminate the water building up in your body.

The BEST pads to use on your period | Louella Reese

Find the Right Fit

Did you know that 60% of women wear the wrong sized pad? 60% y’all, meaning more than half of us are wearing the wrong size pad. Therefore, we’re finding ourselves uncomfortable, less confident, and not as well prepared as we should be! Now, this isn’t a topic we all feel 100% comfortable talking about BUT we SHOULD! Us gals are each dealing with that time of the month, every month. Lucky for us, Always has us covered! Always provides the right protection by offering varying lengths and coverage and assorted products that fit each woman’s unique needs. Let’s be honest, we are women after all, we each have unique needs!

For me, Always Ultra Thin Long Super Pads with Wings are the best 90% of the time. The flexible design offers comfortable protection that moves right along with me. And we all know I like to move! Their LeakGuard Core absorbs in seconds and offers up to 8 hours of protection. Hello worry-free sleep!

If you aren’t sure which Always Pad to go with, you can utilize their MY FIT sizing chart. This helps you choose the right protection for your panty size and level of flow.

Right now, my recommendation is to stock up on your favorite Always products at Sam’s Club as Sam’s Club is offering $2 in Instant Savings during the month of June! With that you’ll always be protected AND prepared. If you prefer to do your shopping online (with you gal), you can shop samsclub.com to see the full product line.

Visit your local Sam’s Club or samsclub.com to take advantage of this deal.

Magazines, Books, and/or Netflix

Aside from indulging in your favorite treats, now is the time to indulge in your favorite show, gossip magazines, or brand new book. Another let’s be honest moment, there’s typically a day/night or two where we don’t feel like moving from the couch or our bed. Or don’t even feel like it’s physically possible. Instead of focusing on all your can’t do, why not use this opportunity for a little relaxation/me time enjoying one of your favorites.

Again, don’t feel bad about it either! Everyone deserves a little couch/bed time being lazy and taking the time to recharge their batteries. Plus, getting caught up in your favorite show, magazine, or book may help to take your mind off those cramps!

Current favorites for me: Riverdale, Dynasty, and When Life Gives You Lulu Lemons.

I decided to go on the IUD last year and it’s been *so* amazing not having to worry about my time of the month anymore. MAN! Were my periods bad! When I did get it though, Always was *always* (no pun intended) my rock!

  2. I keep hearing about this “when life gives you lulu lemons” — might check it out. Also, I always indulge when I’m on my period. I would also recommend a heat pad. Does wonders.
