One decor item that can quickly update and transform your space is an area rug! I was blown away by how much our living changed when we added a new area rug from Loloi Rugs. The rug we had in our living room prior was from our town house and while I didn’t realize it until we received the new rug, it was much too small for the space. Which ended up making the living room appear smaller and less pulled together. Upon rolling out our new rug the room was transformed – warmer, cozier, and pulled together! We opted for an 8×10 which fills the space and again, pulls everything together. The rug we selected pairs perfectly with our living room color scheme – sage green, olive, chocolate, and ivory.

My top recommendation is to go as big as you can…

Consider a 5’ x 8’ rug for smaller living rooms. Place the front legs of your sofa on the rug so it’s not “floating” in the middle of the room.

An 8’ x 10’ rugs is a great option for most living room settings. This size allows you to place the front legs of your furniture on the rug, which ties things together.

In a larger living room, a 9’ x 12’ or 10’ x 14’ rug makes a big statement. Plus, a bigger rug will make the entire room look bigger. If you have a sectional, you should probably consider this size.

After adding this rug to our living room I am now convinced the first item to purchase when looking to update, refresh, or transform your space is an area rug! Luckily there are so many affordable living room rugs available to shop!

Rounding up a few recent favorites I’ve come across below…

I officially want them ALL. I love area rugs like these, and they make such a difference in a space. I try to get a rug before decorating anything else so I can make everything else match the aesthetic of the rug itself haha. Love your picks!
