Patron // Watermelon Mint Margarita

A recipe for one of my favorite summer cocktails, a watermelon mint margarita!

So excited to be partnering with Patron Tequila today to share one of my go to margarita recipes. Also, to tell you a little about their exciting Patron The Summer Cocktail Tour. If your a tequila fan, like myself, you know Patron Tequila is the BEST. You’re also going to love their summer tour!

First, let’s talk about the fact that margaritas are amazing on a hot summer day! Am I right? So refreshing, clean, and tasty. They pair perfectly with chips and guacamole {another best}! Margaritas are also great to mix up for a party! Which everyone loves having, come summer season! Hello backyard BBQs, housewarming parties, and summer holiday celebrations. Patron Tequila decided to celebrate the summer season {and the love of margaritas} with an exciting tour.

Patron Tequila spent some time researching consumer behavior in over 100 different markets across the US. Using insights gathered from FourSquare and social media listening tools, they identified patterns around what people ordered most {margarita for me, 99% of the time}. After that, they came up with 30 new tequila cocktails. Each of these cocktails match the preferences of the respective markets where Patron The Summer Cocktail Tour will be stopping. Yep, that’s right, cocktails specifically made for your city! Each cocktail has a little story behind it, which I love! For Charlotte, it’s the Silver Wings cocktail, see what exactly that is here.

So what actually happens at a Patron The Summer Cocktail Tour event?! Well, first you’re greeted by Patron’s custom interactive touchscreen ordering system. Here you’ll answer a few questions and the interface will determine the perfect drink for you! Then a bartender will create that cocktail for you to indulge in. The best part of the event, there’s an interactive GIF that allows you to capture your tasty cocktail and summer moment. If you can’t attend an event or there isn’t one by you, no worries! You can get the ingredients delivered right to your door!

Okay, now that we’ve covered the event of the summer that you HAVE to attend/check out, let’s get to today’s recipe. I personally like to make my margaritas fresh and skinny. That means, no sugary juices and simple ingredients. With summer, that means I’m definitely adding some fresh fruit! Watermelon is my FAVORITE so it was a no brainer to create my favorite drink with my favorite fruit. How many times can I say favorite? haha. With the margarita in this post I used Patron Silver Tequila, Patron Citronge Orange Liquer, watermelon, mint springs, and lime seltzer water. Five delicious ingredients!

How do you like your margaritas? Have you created a fruit infused margarita for summer? If so, share below, I would love to give it a try.

Margarita
  1. 4 torn fresh mint sprigs
  2. 8 cubes of fresh watermelon
  3. 1-1 1/2 shots Patron Silver Tequila
  4. 1/2 shot Patron Citronge Orange Liqueur
  5. 1/2 can of Lime Seltzer Water
  6. Ice
Rim Glass
  1. Juice of 1/2 lime
  2. 2 tablespoons sugar
  3. Watermelon slices, to garnish, optional
Instructions
  1. 1. Rim the Glass - pour the juice of 1/2 a lime into a shallow and flat bowl that is wider than the mouth of your glass. Pour the sugar in a similar size bowl or dish. Dip the rim of the glass in the lime juice, about 1/8" deep then dip into the sugar. Lift the glass a little and lightly tap to shake off any excess sugar. Fill glass with ice and set aside while you mix up the margarita.
  2. 2. Combine mint springs, fresh watermelon (cubed), Patron Silver Tequila, Patron Citronge Orange Liquer, lime seltzer water, and plenty of ice in a pitcher. Stir to mix well. Pour into sugar rimmed ice glass. Garnish with a fresh watermelon slice, if desired.
Notes
  1. Could also be placed in a blender to create a frozen margarita.
