It’s no secret, I have a serious love affair with The Fresh Market. You can read more about it here, here, and here. They provide fresh, delicious food in a warm and inviting atmosphere. Seriously, I love going into their markets. Recently, that love has increased greatly {didn’t even know that was possible} when I found out about their Valentine’s Day Meal Special. Before, I dive into that, let me tell you about my ideal Valentine’s Day {maybe we’re similar}.

Starting the day slow with breakfast in bed and lots of lounging. Then a hike at the U.S. National Whitewater Center {Joshua went here on one of our first dates and the day he proposed} with a picnic packed. Any easy picnic, homemade sandwiches, fruit, and Oreos {I have to have my Oreos}. Back home, for more lounging and to do our marriage devotional. Next, cooking a meal together, at home, listening to some of our favorite love songs. Typically, I like to go fancy here, steaks, potatoes, roasted vegetables, and a super sweet dessert to indulge in. Lastly, watch a romantic movie cuddled up on the couch. A full day of just Joshua and I!

How does that sound to you? Do you like to stay in too?

While I love going out to eat and having a night out on the town here or there, I would much prefer stay in. Especially when it comes to holidays, like Valentine’s Day. Restaurants are over packed, over scheduled, and under staffed {most of the time}. Often, the menu is also fixed which I never realize until we’re there and what I wanted to get isn’t on the menu that night {ugh, why does that happen?}. Servers are super stressed which I totally don’t blame them for, been there done that, it sucks! So would I rather stay in and have a fabulous meal, YEP absolutely!

And again, this is why my love for The Fresh Market increased greatly recently. When I found out you can order a delicious, romantic dinner to have at home. No worries about making a restaurant reservation or dealing with all the craziness! Also, everything is incredibly easy for you {and your significant other} as the meal is planned, it’s incredible, and you just have to pick it up and spend some quality time cooking together.

Five Things to Do for a Valentine’s Day Evening at Home

Cook at meal together – this was an obvious one, of course! But, cooking together really can be special and a great way to bond. You learn a lot about a person by cooking with them! It’s also fun to try new recipes together or new cooking techniques. Maybe you’ve never grilled a steak before {like the ones that come in The Fresh Market Valentine’s Day Meal Special} and your significant other can show you how to grill it to perfection!

Read a marriage {or relationship} devotional together – this is something Joshua and I have really come to love doing together. Again, you learn a lot about a person by doing this and you also learn a lot as a couple. Reading devotionals together and talking about the topic of that chapter can be very romantic and touching. I’ve cried many happy tears and tears of love from listening to Joshua’s responses to some of the topics.

Watch the latest Rom-Com {or your favorite one} – another obvious thing to do on Valentine’s Day! I say, challenge your significant other to name your favorite rom-com and also theirs, then watch the two. If you’re in the mood for a new one, I’ve heard My Forever Girl is suppose to be the rom-com of the season.

Play Boardgames – a great way to have fun, tease each other, and enjoy some quality time with one another! Yahtzee is a personal favorite of mine, as of late. Monopoly is always a good idea when you plan on spending the full night in. Jenga, Scrabble, Boggle, Sorry, and Dominoes are all great classic options as well.

Have a dance party – if you’re married, play your wedding song and remininsce. If you’re dating or engaged, play some of your favorite love songs and dance the night away in your living room. Or, if you’re up for a little more excitement, find a playlist of some of y’all’s favorite songs and shake what your momma gave you. Laugh the night away showing each other your cheesiest of dance moves!
