For our first day in NYC I went for a simple winter Parisian chic inspired outfit. And I’m sharing tips on how to create one, yourself.

When packing for NYFW I found myself being drawn to three colors and a particular style {p.s. check out what I packed here}. The colors were blue, pink, and forest green {white too, but does that even count?}. Then the style was all kind of leaning towards Parisian chic. Aka I was feeling all the French girl vibes. I don’t know if that’s because it was fashion week I was prepping for {Parisians are so chic and fashionable} or if that’s starting to become my style. Either way, I didn’t hate it and come NYFW I was pretty happy about it!
The look in today’s post was what I wore for our first full day in NYC. For meetings, fashion shows, and a little exploring of the soho neighborhood. Now let’s talk the obvious before breaking down the look completely and why it’s totally French girl style, the beret. Obviously, the beret instantly gives off a Parisian vibe. If you aren’t sure if you can rock a beret, you can, I promise! You just need to find the right color beret for you. Initially I tried a cream/ivory one and while I loved it, it wasn’t right. The color made my look washed out and didn’t truly speak to my personality. However, this blue one makes my eyes pop {sorry I forgot to take my shades off for these photos} and definitely fits my style/personality.
Okay, so the rest of the look, how is it winter Parisian chic?
One, it’s simple. Less is more is one of the top Parisian style “rules“. The coat is a classic piece, in a classic color. The tights and handbag match the coat almost perfectly, creating a simple monochromatic look that gives off a very chic vibe.
Two, the oxfords. French girls opt for flats more often then not. Whether it’s ballet flats, loafers, or oxfords. Trade your heels/pumps for a great pair of oxfords or loafers. Your feet will thank you and you’ll instantly look a little more Parisian.
Three, minimal accessories. While I am wearing a beret, gloves, earrings, and handbag – my earrings and handbag {the handbag is also very simple, streamline} are the same color as the coat. And the beret is in the same color family as those items. My actual statement piece, the gloves, in blush pink.
This look is so you and so uber chic. I now need all of the berets!
