Step Out of Your Color Comfort Zone

Moving away from blue and white {although I’m still wearing white} and trying out a yellow midi skirt.

Happy Thursday y’all! This week has been one of the slowest weeks EVER. Seriously, Monday and Tuesday felt like they were each two days. I was convinced Tuesday afternoon that it was Thursday. I think it is in part because of the business that is about to be my life over the next several weeks {aka month and a half}. And while I’m excited, I’m also a bit anxious and nervous about it. Due to the fact that I love down time and me time and there won’t be much time for either of those! Anyone else ever feel like that?

Any who, onto today’s post and look. I bet you’re super shocked right now to see a look on Louella Reese that contains NO blue and just the tiniest hint of pink. Usually every look as at least a little blue {most of the time, a lot} or pink. However, when I spotted this yellow midi skirt I immediately picked it up and carried it right to the fitting room. Which seriously has NEVER happened before. By that I mean, I’ve never picked up something yellow and thought, “I have to have this” – mainly due to the fact I thought yellow looked horrible on me!

Therefore, I never wore it. The color was not included in my wardrobe and when I spotted a piece in the hue I immediately thought, “oh that’d be terrible on me.”  – who’s been there, done that before? But for some reason decided to give it a go with this skirt and you know what, I was SO pleasantly surprised. Instantly loved the piece and loved it on me! Who would have thought?!

Step out of your color comfort zone

So my recommendation to y’all is to step out of your color comfort zone and try a piece in a hue you’ve always thought looked horrible on you. Or one you just never thought you could pull off. Because y’all, you never know, the color might surprise you and become you’re new favorite. Maybe that’s aggressive, maybe you’ll just like it and wear it more often haha.

A funny little behind the scenes story for you…I text Morgan a photo of me in this skirt when I tried it on and asked, “is this skirt too yellow for my brand?” Oh blogger problems haha.

So while I recommended it above, I’m daring y’all now! I dare you to try a piece of clothing in a color you wouldn’t normally wear or are totally against this weekend. See if the color surprises you! When you try it, send me a direct message on Instagram and show me you completed the dare! Maybe I’ll share some of my favorites, if you’d like that is.

P.S. interested in finding your personal style or putting a label on it? Check out my post on What is Personal Style? How to Find It. How to Stick to It. {accept when it comes time to try a different color haha}.

  13. Such a beautiful skirt and it looks great on you! It can be so tough to step out of our comfort zone, I find myself more often than always going back to black. Maybe I should try the challenge this week! x
