Can you believe we’re already two weeks into March? Seriously though, where is this year going? Like does it have a spectacular event to attend in December or is 2015 going to be one amazing year, what’s the rush? So as I realize how fast time is flying by I’m finding out that I really need to get on my New Years resolutions. There are a few I need to work harder on and some I need to start planning for ASAP. Here’s a little update on how I’m doing, what I plan to do to make them happen, and which ones I’ve successfully completed (might just be one, whoops!)
– Travel more – visit at least six new places
So far I have only made it to one new place, Phoenix, Arizona. I actually went for a work meeting but stayed an extra three days to really explore with my friend/coworker Lindsay. We had the best time checking out Phoenix and all it has to offer. We hiked Camelback Mountain, checked out multiple malls, made our own little bar crawl downtown, enjoyed an evening at the spa, and I tried fresh pressed juice for the first time (I’m addicted). Oh and not to forget we rode the bus everywhere! In case you haven’t been to Phoenix, let me warn you, taxi’s are out of control expensive so plan accordingly! Here’s my top picks in Phoenix…
Bar: Blue Hound Downtown Phoenix – Huckleberry Margarita is a must!
Restaurant-Lunch: Original ChopShop Co. – Tri-tip Protein Plate with the Tropicale Pressed Juice
Restaurant-Dinner: The Greene House – Grilled Mahi Tacos and GH Margarita of course
Must do: Hike Camelback Mountain – the view is breathtaking and you’ll feel like you can accomplish anything after making that “hike”…it’s more like rock climbing
Places I want to visit and hopefully will check off at least five of these this year: San Francisco, Nashville, Colorado, Nantucket, London, Scotland, Alaska and NYC during Christmas time.
– Completely cut gluten from my diet
Let me be 100% honest, this has been an epic fail on my part. I have not been following this very well at all. The bread baskets have been tempting me, my cheese needs crackers, and I really like beer. I am currently eating gluten free oatmeal though from Trader Joe’s so there’s one step forward. To implement this goal I plan on being more cautious when eating out and from now on buying only gluten free items from the grocery store like my favorite Food Taste Good Sweet Potato Chips!
– Pay off Nordstrom card
Very excited to say that this was completed on Thursday!
– Read the Bible more
I have definitely done better this year and spent more time reading the Bible. Going along with an outline my Church pastor has set up for each week I have completed the readings and will continue to do so. As always with reading the Bible there’s room for improvement though so it’s something I will continue to work on.
– Create a budget and stick to it
This has not happened at all! It’s something I really do need to sit down and do. I know my sister is great at setting budgets and being realistic about them so I do believe she’ll be receiving a phone call from me within the next week.
– Focus more attention on my blog – post more often
I believe this has happened! Louella Reese has become a huge part of my daily life and something I absolutely love doing. I’m actually kinda in love with blogging and often times can’t wait to get my hands on my computer or iPad so I can blog away.
– Show people how much I appreciate them and all they do for me
This is something I believe I am doing better on by being more expressive but again there’s always room for improvement. So I hope to continue to show people what an impact they make on me and how much I appreciate all that they do and who they are.
– Run more 5ks and at least one 10k
So far I have ran one 5k. I have plans to run one this month as well as next month hopefully!! Then on to the 10k..which I’m thinking definitely needs to be towards the end of the year after I have quite a few 5ks under my belt. I plan on running one every other month or possibly every month from here on out and upping my treadmill running to outdoors on a regular basis now that it’s getting warmer out.
How are your New Years Resolutions coming?
