I haven’t been a fan of lipstick for very long. In fact, I never wore it before the blog. It was about a year and a half ago that I decided to give the beauty item another go. I tried out a coral hue and completely fell in love. It became my go to. Bye-bye statement eye, it was now all about the statement lip. Since then I have come to love lipstick and now cannot get enough of the beauty item. You could say I’m kind of a collector {totally joking but also kind of serious}.
Recently, I was introduced to a new brand, Lipstick Queen. Created by Poppy King. Y’all how fabulous is her name? Also, Reese’s middle name is Poppy so that started the brand off on the right foot for me. Once I received some samples it was game over. There was a new Lipstick Queen in my house. Instantly the packaging stole my heart. It’s freaking adorable y’all! Then the names had me giggling and reading them all to Joshua {cause you know he’d be just as giddy as a lipstick obsessed gal haha right}. Seriously, I was in love with Lipstick Queen before I even tried the product. After a weekend in Highlands, where I used the brand nonstop, I was hooked. I promise, I’m saying this all from the heart. I truly love the products and you’ll be seeing them pop up on the blog often.
I want to give you some details on Miss Poppy King {seriously the name}. Poppy has more than 25 years’ experience in the cosmetic industry aka this lady knows her beauty products! At the age of 18 Poppy started designing lipsticks, mainly to find the perfect shade for herself. While doing this she gained international attention and was recruited to Color Development where she became the Vice President. After some time Poppy left Color Development to continue with her dream and create her own lip line {#GIRLBOSS}. This lady led the matte lip revolution, are you crushing on her yet? To share her GIRLBOSS-ness {I’m making that a word} Poppy often gives guest lectures at FIT in NYC.
So you know how I said bye bye statement eye, hello statement lip? Well Poppy King just convinced me even more that this needs to be the way of life. With her new fall launch, the Smokey Lip. This is a sexy new take on the classic look. You can create this Smokey Lip with a lip kit from Lipstick Queen. Each kit contains a shade of sinner {full coverage satin matte lipstick} and Black Rabbit {a sheer black with fine gold shimmer}.
Looking for the perfect stocking stuffer? Your girl Poppy has you covered. Lipstick Queen Best Seller Minis! All three shades are sheer and wearable while working with every complexion, win. The three shades are Medieval {natural blood-stain red}, Frog Prince {a emerald green lipstick that transforms into a rosebud hue}, and Hello Sailor {a cool, berry tone with a hint of deep sapphire}. The Frog Prince is my absolute favorite! It’s become my wear every day shade. The rosebud hue is so sweet and natural looking. I’m thinking one set for you and one set for your bestie. Sounds good right?
Another great gift idea {for yourself too} is Poppy King’s The A to Z of Lipstick. In this book you can find everything you’d ever want to know about lipstick. From color choice to application and everything in between. Including lipstick trends through the ages and insight into how lipstick is made. A definite must have for any beauty lover!
