So if you haven’t noticed, I have a serious love affair with pairing tennis shoes and dresses today. {see here, here, and here}. One I love how comfortable the combination is and two I love the playful vibe it gives off. The combination is both feminine and sporty. A total win for a woman on the run! I don’t know what your schedule looks like but for me, spring/summer things really pick up. There seems to be a to do list a mile long and things to go to almost every single day. Therefore, I’m always moving and comfy shoes {and look} is needed.
Personally, I’m most comfortable in a dress. It’s my clothing item of choice. Lots of shoes you typically wear with a dress aren’t the most comfortable for a day on the move though. Am I right? Flat sandals, tall wedges, espadrilles {they can rub your feet wrong}, and definitely not heels! So as of lately, I find myself reaching for tennis shoes more often than not. Thank goodness they’re all the rage right now!

So since I find myself reaching for tennis shoes more and more, I’m finding more items to pair them with. At first I was all about mini dresses only but most recently I wore them with this dress. One I previously would have NEVER thought about! To help elongate my body, I tied the bottom of the dress in a knot to show a little more leg. Who doesn’t love a little more leg? haha.
My tips for styling your favorite summer tennis shoes with dresses:
Go with dresses that show some leg. Either a mini dress or a midi/maxi that has a slit in it. This will help elongate your body which is definitely needed when wearing sneakers.
Keep your tennis shoes neutral and allow your dress to do the talking or vice versa. Having both loud sneakers and a busy dress can become too much and overwhelm your shape {and audience}.
Try out different tennis shoes to see what pair works best for you. I have found that I cannot pull these off. No matter what I pair them with I look short and wide. With these though, I found I can pair them with SO many of my dresses while looking and feeling better than the other pair.
Go with dresses that have a playful feel to them. Like the one I’m wearing in this post. The fit & flare style is fun and flirty. Plus the floral pattern {like this one too} helps to make it the dress feel a little more casual. Also, jersey and cotton dresses are almost always a win. They’re more laid back and casual. Pairing nicely with tennis shoes.
Hope you found these tips to be helpful! If you have any questions or have a dress you’re not sure about send me an email at [email protected] OR you can send me a pic via DM on instagram!
