Okay, first I want to say I am SO sad that this top is sold out online. The good news is you can still find it in stores. So if you’re obsessed, head to your local Forever 21. Otherwise, this one is incredibly similar. I seriously just bought this top less than two weeks ago so I can’t believe it’s gone already! The matching shorts are still available though, if you’d like to scoop those up online.
Anyways, I went into Forever 21 for the first time in over a year recently and was quickly reminded why I had loved it so much in college. Adorable clothes under $20 an item. That’s a completely win! So I snatched up a couple fun items. I’ll be sharing more next week. One of the last items I saw before hitting the fitting room was this sweet pajama top. Which then led me to these pajama shorts. I debated for a solid five plus minutes on whether I should buy the shorts or not. Ultimately, I went with just the top. I knew I’d wear it like crazy and the shorts would probably only be worn this the matching top. Not a big shorts gal.

Upon bringing the shirt home, I tore my closet apart. Pulling out everything I felt I could wear the top with. I then immediately tried every option on. Because that’s what you do when you buy something new, right? No, just me? Whoops.
I’ve recently been on a huge midi skirt kick {see here, here, and here} so this combination was one of my favorite from my try on session. I feel as though it would make for the perfect church to brunch look. The combination would also be adorable for attending bridal showers, engagement parties, rehearsal dinners {more casual ones}, or dates with your significant other.
Tips for styling a pajama shirt for brunch {or another more dressed up summer occasion}:
Pair with a skirt – Like I mentioned, I’m having a big midi skirt moment right now so I would personally choose this style. Additionally, I believe they really take your look up a notch and create a more feminine look. They’re also more appropriate for some occasions {church, rehearsal dinners, etc.}. Whatever skirt you do choose, go with one in one solid color. Like mine, it can have a pattern going on though, just make sure it’s all one color. Pajama shirts tend to have a lot going on. Allow your shirt to take center stage and have your skirt be the supporting actress!
Add heels – this is my tip every time I’m talking about dressing up a look. So I’m sure it comes to no shocker to you if you’ve been reading Louella Reese for any length of time. We all know heels instantly step up your look and elongate your frame. Since pajama shirts are so fun, I say go with a block heel. Pick a solid color but go with a color!
Carry a sweet bag – For brunch, a wedding event, or date with your significant other doesn’t really require a large bag. You need your lipstick, wallet, business cards {you never know who you’ll run into}, and a place to put your sunnies, that’s about it. So a sweet little bag will carry all that plus complete the feminine look.
Chic sunnies – A must! Summer is officially here {as of yesterday}. Therefore, you need sunglasses on hand at all times. A chic pair is like icing on the cake! Go for an oversized pair in a neutral shade. Think black, tortoise, muted olive, or metallic {gold, rose gold, silver}.
