I shared this skirt recently on my Instagram account {see here}. In the post, I said, every gal needs a pink princess skirt and I totally believe that! As little gals we loved playing dress up in items like this skirt, so why not wear them now. I can promise you the princess loving five year old Laura in me is dying from excitement over the chance to wear this skirt wherever I want. No parents telling me it’s too much.
The best part about this skirt, it can easily be transitioned from one season to the next. With the maxi length, the skirt provides you the opportunity to wear it throughout all seasons. Gotta love that, am I right? So I wanted to share a couple of different ways/tips to make the transition from summer to fall. I know we are still experiencing full force summer BUT fall will be here before you know it. Are you excited about that? I kind of am but also really don’t want summer to leave. So let’s talk about today’s look and get to those tips…

For today’s look, I’m styling this skirt for late summer. Temperatures are dropping just a bit in the evenings and sometimes a little extra warmth is needed. So in comes the maxi skirt and simple white button up. The skirt length provides coverage as well as the long sleeves {which I always have rolled up slightly}. While this combination will work for the next month or so, by October I’ll be needing a little more. So here are some options for transitioning this skirt from summer to fall…
Choose close toed shoes: simple ballet flats, suede booties, or riding boots.
Choose a long sleeve top: stripe button up shirt, bodysuit {makes the tucking in easy}, a chunky sweater, or a tissue turtle neck.
Add a layer: suede Moto jacket, denim jacket, utility jacket, or a cropped leather jacket.
For me personally, I’m thinking a chunky knit sweater, simple ballet flats {pointy toe for me always}, and cross body bag or maybe a statement tote.
How would you style the skirt for fall?
P.S. Can we talk about these photos? I had the opportunity to shoot with Andrea Kinnear recently when she was visiting the Charlotte area. I had actually reached out to her to shoot while we were in Savannah but she was out of town. Lucky for me though, she was in Charlotte right before our trip. We had an absolute blast snapping these photos. I seriously felt like we were good friends within 5 minutes. She is the sweetest and is amazing at giving direction while shooting! She’s currently based in the Charleston area and I would highly recommend her if you’re visiting or live in that area.
