Styling the cutest casual plaid pants for the perfect winter weekend look!

After receiving this blackwatch cape, I completely fell in love with the plaid pattern. So when I spotted these plaid pants in J.Crew a couple weeks ago, I HAD to have them. Sadly, this particular pair has since sold out {hate that} but luckily I found this identical pair for y’all! The best part, they’re on sale right now! I could not recommend adding a pair of blackwatch pants to your wardrobe more. Over the next couple of weeks, I’ll share various ways to wear the pants {because I can’t get enough of them} to showcase how versatile they really are. They’re the perfect pant to dress up or dress down. Today, I’m sharing how to make them super casual and work for winter weekends!

The first step to really dressing down these pants is to pair them with a great pair of sneakers. The shoes instantly bring casual vibes and give you a more playful look. This pair, pairs perfectly as they have the navy heel in the back to pull in the navy from the pants. However, an awesome pair of slip on sneakers or a simple pair of converses would also look great!
Next, it’s time to layer up top. Since it’s winter, lots of upper layers are needed. I started with a basic button down shirt, added a sweatshirt on top, and finished with a classic denim jacket. With the three layers I stayed plenty warm during the day, just needed a cozy scarf come evening when temperatures dropped a little more.
I recently came across the IRO brand and recommend checking them out for layering pieces. They have so many great items you could use to layer up top and complete your casual weekend ready look. Including short + long sleeve tees, moto jackets, bomber jackets, and sweaters.
