This post idea came to me while thinking about the travel I have coming up this season and into the winter season. Often times my skin takes a beating when busy travel schedules take over. I’m less likely to have my self care time where I layer up on lotion and focus on hydrating my skin. With cooler temperatures and lower humidity, that just can’t happen as skin looses moisture and we all know what that leads to if we don’t hydrate our skin – dry, irritated skin. It doesn’t look good and it definitely doesn’t feel good. So this season, I’m vowing to hydrate while I travel (and while at home) to keep my skin moisturized. To help (and encourage) you to do the same, I’m sharing five ways to pamper your skin while traveling + the products I’m loving, do to so.

Drink Water

This is probably a duh but so many people slack on drinking the recommended eight glasses of water (or more) a day. Doing so is one of the easiest ways you can hydrate your skin naturally and keep it looking healthy and plump. Especially when traveling! Flying is a quick dehydrated and drinking water is an absolute must. Otherwise, you’ll be left with dull, hydrated skin. It is recommended that you drink 8 ounces of water for every hour your plane remains in the air. So be sure to purchase a bottle of water before hoping on the plane! If you aren’t into plain water, add cucumber, your favorite fruit, or reach for a coconut water.

Pack Body Lotion

Often times hotels have the thinnest moisturizer that’s gone within seconds and doesn’t really do much to hydrate your skin. And if you’re staying in an airbnb or vacation rental, good luck! The chances you’ll find body lotion anywhere are pretty slim. So packing your own is the best bet for keeping your soft, moisturized skin throughout the trip. Opt for lotion with coconut oil as it is moisturizing, absorbs quickly, and non-greasy. Perfect for travels when you’re typically in a hurry and need lotion to dry quickly so you can throw on your clothes and go! Try Palmer’s Coconut Oil Formula Body Lotion, this lotion will infuse your skin with deeply penetrating moisture and an instant hydration boost. If you’re more into body oil (like me) try Palmer’s Coconut Oil Formula Body Oil which is perfect for after showering as it’s non-greasy, absorbs quickly, and won’t stain your clothing.

If you’re looking to take a little extra care of your skin, opt for Palmer’s Coconut Oil Formula Anti-Oxidant Firming Lotion. This body firming lotion uses the natural inherent properties of seaweed and potent botanicals to help ease fluid retention, encourage microcirculation and give skin a more toned, firm, smooth appearance. Who doesn’t want that? Also offers 24-hour moisture. Great for post-travel days when your body needs that extra boost of hydration.

Eat Water Rich Foods

Foods that contain mostly water can be just as hydrating for your body (and skin) as drinking water. Opt for water-dense fruits and veggies such as berries, watermelon, plums, peaches, cucumbers, celery, bell peppers, and lettuce — while traveling and eating out. Yes, you can still indulge while traveling but if you know you’re going to reach for dessert than maybe choose a salad full of fruits and veggies for your main course.

Have Hand Cream at All Times

If I’m being honest, my hands are quick to become dry and irritated when traveling. Mainly due to the fact that I am washing them constantly, trying to keep myself from catching whatever cold or flu is going around. Since it is a lot easier to catch something while traveling. Therefore, I have learned that in order to take care of the skin on my hands while traveling, I need a hand cream that will drench my hands in moisture! That may sound intense but if you’re a frequent hand washer, you get it! Especially come fall and winter, hands are quick to dry out and crack. Palmer’s Coconut Oil Formula Hand Cream envelops hands in a glove-like barrier to lock in moisture, repair cracks and soften overall texture. Not to mention it smells amazing! A great way to freshen your scent up a bit while on the go!

Don’t Forget About Your Lips (and other quick to dry parts)

Lips are skin too and are also quick to dry out and crack while traveling! So another item to have on hand at all time, lip balm! Palmer’s Coconut Oil Formula Lip Balm keeps lips hydrated all day long and protects against chapping, cracking and environmental damage from the sun or wind. Plus, it has SPF 15 for protection! An all in one if you will! And speaking of all in ones, Palmer’s Coconut Oil Formula Swivel Stick is perfect for rehydrating dry, cracked lips, cuticles and rough patches. If I had to reach for one (since packing space can be limited sometimes), I’d go with the swivel stick as it can be used to take care of the skin on your lips, hands, and other patches!

There you have it, five ways to take care and hydrate your skin while traveling and products to do so! P.S. the best part about all of the products I mentioned is they are free of parabens, mineral oil, sulfates, phthalates, GMOs, and harsh chemicals. As well as, being non-comedogenic, dermatologist tested, hypoallergenic, and made with sustainable and fair trade ingredients. PRAISE for awesome products that hydrate and take care of your skin that are good for you!

My skin gets SO gross when I travel so a solid skincare routine is crucial. I’ve used Palmer’s Cocoa Butter lotion for YEARS but had no idea that they had a coconut oil, too. Need to pick this up for my next trip!
