Can you believe we are almost halfway through October? As always, the best season of the year is absolutely flying by. It seems as soon as October 1st hits time moves at double the speed. Although time is moving fast I will say this season has been quite refreshing, a breathe of fresh air with all that has been going on this year. It is easier and more exciting to get outside with the crisp fall air, the beautiful leaves, and all of the outdoor activities. With fewer commitments and a more open calendar we have had the chance to experience more fall activities than ever before. Are you having the same experience?

If so or if you’re simply needing some inspiration to encourage taking advantage of the fall season, below you will find my 2020 fall bucket list. I have every intention of crossing every single one of these off my list. This seems like the year to make it happen and to really soak in the season!

2020 Fall Bucket List

Host a bonfire at our house with s’mores

Take a fall mountain getaway

Make apple pie from scratch

Visit the Davidson Farmer’s market & scoop up lots of beautiful fall flowers and produce

Have a picnic with Joshua and/or girl friends

Buy all of the pumpkin things from Trader Joe’s

Go hiking

What I have crossed off my 2020 fall bucket list

Host a bonfire at our house with s’mores

Just last week we hosted our marriage small group at our house and decided to keep things outdoors with a cozy bonfire + s’mores platter. While we have crossed this one off I absolutely want to do it again and again this season!

Take a fall mountain getaway

Joshua and I visited Half Mile Farm in Highlands, NC earlier this month for our anniversary. We were blessed beyond belief with the most beautiful fall weather. It truly could not have been more perfect! The leaves were also starting to change so we were able to catch a little colorful fall foliage. P.S. Half Mile Farm is truly the most perfect spot for a relaxing, romantic fall mountain getaway. Joshua and I were obsessed – we both could not recommend it more!

Host home tailgates for the UNCC games

Not 100% sure this counts but I’m counting it ha. We hosted a homegate (tailgate at home) late September for UNCC‘s first football game of the season. We had sooo much fun with a small group of our friends. We actually had a brunch themed homegate as the game was at 12pm. So the menu included pancakes, grits, fresh fruit, and mimosas. There are also plans to do another on October 31st – excited to put that menu together

Visit multiple pumpkin patches around Charlotte (and carve a pumpkin)

I have visited two but definitely want to visit a few more! There are so many good ones around the Charlotte area (check them out here). We haven’t carved pumpkins yet but do have the ones we plan to carve.

Take a drive to see the fall foliage in the NC Mountains

When we were in Highlands, NC we drove around quite a bit to see the changing foliage. It was so incredibly beautiful! Honestly wouldn’t mind going back this weekend for a drive as I believe this weekend will be peak foliage for us in NC.

Go hiking

Another item we crossed off the list while in Highlands. We went on a gorgeous hike that ended at a beautfiul waterfall. Again the leaves were starting to change colors so it was a very pretty hike from start to finish! Not to mention so quiet and peaceful. Hiking is so good for my soul – I love it! We have plans to do a little more this fall season at the U.S. National White Water Center.

  8. So many great ideas! Have kept it more local than recent years; already visited a local cider mill and pumpkin patch markets so far. The Northeast foliage is starting to peak and looking forward to enjoying the sights! xoxo, Sarah
